2010, I hate to see you go... but I loved watching you leave.

So overall 2010 sucked. There is no nicer way to put it. Ya, there are a lot NOT-nicer ways to put it but that is for another day. 2010 had some good times and wonderful memories where made but over all it was filled with a lot of change, some pain and even some dissapointment. I am so glad that we are in the begining of a new year. I have no idea what is in store, but it is already off to a great start. My parents decided to offer me one of their spare rooms to turn into a facial/treatment room. We have spent several days moving things around, taking down wallpaper that is older than I am, filling in holes and getting ready to paint. I am soo excited for this and I hope that it is worth all that me and my parents are putting into it. I don't know what I would do without their support and belief in me!

Happy Holidays!!!

Well it is Christmas and it has come and gone again too fast. I realized yesterday that no two Christmas's are ever the same. This year was no exception. Being unemployed ment that I wasn't able to buy my friends and family the gifts I was planning on but in the end I think everything worked out. I know that the gifts we give are not even close to being as important as letting the ones we love know how much they mean to us.

My favorite thing about the holidays as corny as it sounds is spending time with my family and friends. My least favorite thing about this time of year is everyone complaining about the snow. Um... we live in a state known to have "The greatest snow on Earth" What the hell else do you expect to happen during winter? Ya, it isn't the funnest thing in the world to drive in but in my twenty-something years it has ALWAYS snowed in Utah. Get over it :).

The reasons I am grateful 2010 version

Ahhh so many many reasons to be thankful. Ya, I just lost my job and I have no idea what the HELL I am doing with myself. I have spent the better part of my life being absorbed with work, school or training. I have always felt passionate about the things I was doing. Then suddenly last year with the closing of the salon I had more free time than I was used to and slowly I have lost my passion for these things.

So here I am unemployed, with the exception of my Esthetics's business and I think I am on my way to finding myself.... Or at least I REALLY hope so..... Hmmmm I just realized I sound a LOT like Liz Gilbert the author of Eat, Pray, Love. A book that I love. Hmmm wish I could go to Bali. Ok on to my list of things I am thankful for.

* Numero Uno- of course is my family. While we are defiantly an interesting bunch I could not have asked for better. I come from the most loyal and loving group of people that taught me not to take shit from ANYONE! and because of them I am the interesting person I am today.

*Friends!- Well duh. everyone is grateful for friends right? Well I have such an eccentric group of friends. I honestly do not know how I got so lucky! Not only are like 90% of my friends basically become my family but they accept me for all of my "unique-ness". My friend Lisa and I where discussing a guy she knows that she thought she might like to set me up with when suddenly she says, "Oh Samiee! I just don't know! I don't want to set you up with anyone because you are perfect they way you are and I don't want you to change!" Not going to lie I laughed and cried at the same time. I have never had anyone tell me that before. It really touched me.

* Dayzie- Ya, ya I know instead of being a cat lady I am a beagle lady. It is true tho. I am in love with my dog. She is the canine version of me I swear.Well she is a bit nicer than I am but holy crap that little ball of love can make me happy when I am inconsolable.

Well those are the top 3 things I am most grateful for. The rest of the list goes on and on and on I am sure. But for now this is perfect just the way it is.

And in other news... unemployment is still on the rise...

Ok this picture does not really deal with the topic but it was taken at work so it kind of relates right? So sad day... I was recently laid off from my day job. I was at this job for almost 6 years. This was not based on performance it is simply financial.

I have never been laid off before so this is all new to me but so far it has been interesting.

Thankfully I have AMAZING friends and family that are so supportive and believe in me. Even though I have no idea what I am gonna do next. although my to-do list (which doesn't include blogging) is getting pretty long... I am not sure how I every had time to work... oh ya I had the time because I wasn't getting this crap done.

So this new adventure is not one I was anticipating but I guess I will navigate my way through.

In my next life........

So I realized that when I take pictures of my ADORABLE beagle she is always in my bed. Well that is probably because the little stinker spends a good 10 hours a day in there while I am at work. Ya, in my next life I am sooooo coming back as a beagle. Not only will I be so stinking adorable all will flock to pet my velvet-y soft ears and get sweet as honey kisses from me, the chubbier I am the cuter I am but most important of all? I get to sleep ALL DAY!

Oh... and on a completely separate note it has been brought to my attention that some people read my last post and took it upon themselves to harass the friend I was referring to. I just wanted to say I am not one that has to be told what to think. I am smart enough to put two and two together to realize that you suck :)(This is MY opinion whether you like it or NOT). This may come as a surprised to know that Samiee can think for herself (try it sometime) and if you don't like MY interpretation of a situation you best be talking me about it. Actually, don't because I could really care less. I call it like I see it. Whether or not you agree this is MY blog and I will write about whatever I want.

I also want to point out that if you read that post and assumed I was referring to you it sure seems like you have a guilty conscience huh?? I could give a tiny rats ass about who does or doesn't read this blog and if you are going to read it just know that if you don't like what you are reading then.... STOP READING!!

This just goes to show how good a dog has it. They don't have to deal with ridiculous people like this. I saw a shirt that said, "The more people I meet the more I like my beagle." Truest statement ever. Dayz doesn't care about how much money I have, or the clothes I wear, or what music I listen to. All she cares is that I love her, rub her belly, take her for a walk and feed her and she will love me unconditionally (unless I have a balloon. She is terrified of balloons).

I came across this poem years ago by Senator George Graham Vest  and wanted to share:

The best friend a man has in this world may turn against him and become his enemy. His son or daughter that he has reared with loving care may prove ungrateful. Those who are nearest and dearest to us, those whom we trust with our happiness and our good name, may become traitors to their faith. The money that a man has, he may lose. It flies away from him, perhaps when he needs it most. A man's reputation may be sacrificed in a moment of ill-considered action. The people who are prone to fall on their knees to do us honor when success is with us may be the first to throw the stone of malice when failure settles its' clouds upon our heads.

The one absolutely unselfish friend that man can have in this world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous, is his dog. A man's dog stands by him in prosperity and poverty, in health and sickness. He will sleep on the cold ground, when the wintry winds blow and the snow drives fiercely, if only he may be near his master's side. He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer; he will lick the wounds and sores that come in encounter with the roughness of the world. He guards the sleep of his pauper master, as if he were a prince. When all other friends desert, he remains. When riches take wings and reputation falls to pieces, he is as constant in his love as the sun in its' journey through the heavens.

If fortune drives the master forth an outcast in the world, friendless and homeless, the faithful dog asks no higher privilege than that of accompanying him to guard against danger to fight his enemies; and when the last scene of all comes, and death takes the master in its' embrace, and his body is laid away in the cold ground, no matter if all other friends pursue their way, there by the graveside will the noble dog be found, his head between his paws, his eyes sad, but open in watchfulness, faithful and true even in death.

Why do we treat absolute strangers better than we treat our loved ones?

In the last couple weeks I have had the MIS-fortune of seeing a friend of mine being taken advantage of by 2 close friends of hers. Why would they do this? MONEY. Plain and simple. Now, these are all people that attend  and hold positions in their church yet they sold out a friend for money. Now, I know this happens all over the world everyday no matter what the situation, religion or relationship. But it still  makes me very sad. I am not naive but I guess I really wanted to believe that here in our little community people would have more decency than this. I am not necessarily known for my trusting nature. In fact I am quite the opposite. I am very hesitant in trusting people. This friend I would trust with my life!

She would literally give you the shirt off her back to help you. I know this to be true because she has personally help me in regards to my esthetics's business. She has gone out of her way to refer people to me and boasts about my services to everyone she knows and she asks for NOTHING in return. I am grateful for this friend and I intend to return that favor someday.

All my friend wanted to do was open a little business I am not religious myself, my father is not a bishop, minister, priest whatever religious leaders are called but I can go to sleep each night knowing I haven't screwed my friends/family over for a few bucks. I can also go to bed knowing that my parents are proud of me.

It makes me sad that these people, who are supposedly religious cannot. I was raised to value my integrity above all else. My Dad always says, "When we leave this world the only thing we can take with us is our integrity. If you don't have that, you don't have anything."
Now there are a lot of people in this world I don't care for and I don't think I could do this to even them( not intentionally of course) and I can be quite a bitch haha. I want to end this post with my new favorite quote by Mr. William Shakespear
"Love all, trust few, do wrong to none."

Hocus Pocus...

Halloween was so much fun! In early October I came up with the idea to be Kim Kardashian for Halloween. I was trying to think of what would be the most ridiculous, un-samiee thing to be and well Kim K. is about as UN-Samiee as you can get. So I ordered a black wig, slapped on some self tanner, wore my leggings, sweater jacket, boots and my over sized sunglasses and TADA Samiee has morphed into Kim K.  All that was missing was Reggie Bush. I was tempted to find a cardboard cut out of him and carry it around with me but I ran out of time.
I wore my Kim K. costume to my office job and then Friday night I went to the Halloween Party @ Painted Temple Tattoo. I opted to not to wear my KK costume but instead the super cute masquerade mask I picked up at Wal-Mart.
The party at the shop was a lot of fun. My friend Amber's hubby was the dj, they had a tarot card reader, and they raffled off prizes. Some people even competed in a fear factor game to win tattoo time with the owner. Best of all I got to hang with some old friends I haven't seen in a loooong time.
