Look at me trying to get in touch with nature!

This last spring I got the desire to go hiking. I have never really gone hiking before... I have spent a lot of time outdoors but I was just mostly on horseback, an ATV or snowmobile. I am not sure what brought about this desire but there is SO much beauty around us and I really feel the need to take more advantage of it. Sarah said she wanted to come along so we made a plan to go up Provo canyon. We hiked Bridal Veil Falls and Stewart Falls.... So beautiful, inspiring and serene!
Now Sarah and I cannot do things the easy way or the way 98% of others do it but hey we are who we are! On our way to bridal veil we hiked up a steep incline covered in loose sharp rocks (Ya smart right?) as we where doing this we where asking ourselves how the hell do KIDS climb this? Sheesh?!
This is the stupid incline... ya silly us didn't see the TRAIL! DOH!
I didn't REALLY fall.... or did I? haha
Beautiful shot I took while on the trail.

Once we reached the falls Sarah and I copped a squat ate our lunches and took in the majestic view. While we are eating and trying to center our chi... we watched this total moron fall down the hill across from us run THROUGH a tree and stopped just before he reached the water. Ya I laughed my ass off.

Sarah and I came up with the brilliant idea to hike out the same way we came in so we could take the tram back. Now this seems like a reasonably good idea... except the last mile was DOWNHILL! this means on our return it will be UP HILL! Ya... what morons we are. Me and my 1 whole lung and 1 half functioning lug struggled... a lot! But we made it!
After Bridal Veil we went over to the Sundance resort to hike Stewart Falls. We parked where mocked and looked down on by the pseudo yuppie a-holes that work at Sundance and paid our $10 to ride the tram to the base of the trail. Now I must say I LOVE the idea of a tram being involved in hiking! They should have them for ALL hiking trails!
Me and Sarah on the trail!

So during this little adventure we saw a squirrel (cute) a chipmunk (cute) and a little snake (not cute) actually the snake as little as it was it was freaking gross I started squealing and jumping then it jumped and started slithering off. Sarah didn't see it but I was freaked out!! Maybe being out in nature is over rated.... nah! It was soo worth it! I can't wait to go again!
I couldn't resist taking a picture of my hot toes in the water!

I'm Just sayin.................

Now I know it seems like sometimes the weird ass things that happen to me are made up....trust me they are not. I sometimes wish they where... but they aren't.

Last night I was telling my Father about how a friend of mine is opening a boutique in the Historic Lehi Hotel and if things go well there I could rent a room to work out of.. He chuckled and gave me a weird look..I asked "What?" "You sound like a hooker." Me... .blink blink..... he continued to chuckle about me telling people I was renting a room at the hotel to work out of... Yup.. that's my Dad! See where I get my sense of humor from? I never had a chance HAHA.

A goal for this summer was to go hiking. Well it is August and sweltering (in between flash flood storms, anxiety causing thunder and the always frightening lightning) so Sarah and I are going hiking Sunday (I really hope we don't die)....... I am going on vacation Monday and I have been looking forward to it since Feb. It would piss me off if I missed it because I was dying in the woods.

Speaking of my vacation..... and thank you for bringing it up... we are now only days away! I am so excited to get away for a few days see my friends, lounge on the beach, and who knows what else!! I hope to come home relaxed and rested so I can tackle the insanity that is my life.....................

The first step is admitting you have a problem........ awe crap....

Hello... I am Samiee and I am addicted to make-up. My recent fix? Urban Decay pallets. Every time I go to the beauty counter I tell myself you are just buying the 1 color... 1. and the sales girl always says have you seen the pallet this color comes in? Me: Ya... but I really just need this 1 color. Sales Girl: Well for $36 you get X amount of colors and these extras... you are paying $17 for just this one color... Yup she got me hook line and sinker! Me: OOOHHH Pretty....

I totally blame the Urban Decay facebook page for my current addiction (yes I know that it is just a defense mechanism to divert the blame on someone else... save it for my therapist k?.)  I blame them because they have all these pictures of different looks using their eye shadows... How can I resist? For the last year I have been scanning the globe in search for the perfect bronze/gold/shimmer shadow... Alas I have found it! UD in Half Baked! This is the color of my DREAMS! and now it is mine all MINE!!!!(insert evil sinister laugh)
Here are some examples of the awesome looks they post on FB using UD shadows! For reals! How can a girl RESIST????? Oh that's right...I can't..... Damn..... Oh well at least I will look smokin hot!

"A Weak Man Has Doubts before a decision. A Strong Man Has Them Afterwards."

This quote is brought to you by Carl Kraus, which I discovered watching Criminal Minds (which I am totally obsessed with!). This quote really spoke to me. In our lives we make decisions every single day. Some are important and most are not. In the last few months I personally have made some choices that had me praying where the right thing to do. Guess only time will tell.

One decision I made was to upgrade my phone and thus far it has been AWESOME! I got the LG Ally Droid! I am not gonna lie at first this thing was smarter than me... but I am slowly getting the hang of it! Totally addicting! I can use the Internet UNLIMITED! (dangerous) and there are some seriously wicked apps! Never thought I would be one of these techie people but sadly I have succumbed to it...

My other new love..... St. Moriz self tanner! You can't buy it here in the states but you can get it on Amazon. I got 2 bottles shipped from the UK for just over $26. I like it because it doesn't make you look fake. I am as pasty pale as they come and any little bit of color I can get is appreciated, except lobster red... I don't like that. When you first put it on you are a lot darker than you will be after you rinse it off. This is not uncommon when it comes to self tanner.I found out about this self tanner from a Beauty Blog I follow.

Just under 30 days till I go on vaca to CALIFORNIA!! Woot Woot! Going to see Shaun and Virginia! I could not be more excited to go. I even bought a SWIMSUIT (shudder) and of course a cover-up to go with it. I miss my friends terribly.. why the hell do you guys have to keep moving away? Is it something I said? LOL.

Time spent waiting for someone else to do something is time wasted.......

So in the last few days I have been totally overwhelmed and exhausted by people that wait for someone else to do something (that someone else is usually me). Now, I am not going to rant and rave about poor picked on me... but c'mon people!?!?! If you see a problem, have an idea or want something done why wait for someone else to step up and do it? What are you so afraid of? Failing? *light bulb* That has to be it!! But that is no excuse! We all fail at something at sometime.. does it suck? Sure does! Was it worth it? Umm.. well not always but you always learn from it.

I am not specifically referring to any 1 person when I say this because I see it ALL THE TIME in all areas of my life. Patience is not a virtue I was blessed with. I was however blessed/cursed with Initiative. I have a hard time sitting back and watching something fall apart when I can step in and help it. Now, again I must stress that my way is definitely not the ONLY way or the only "right" way but when the other option is no way I do think my way is best :0) and if you do not like the way I handled it then too damn bad!! Maybe you should get off your a$$ and help. Your opinion is not valid when initially you weren't willing to contribute. I know that I don't have all the answers! and sometimes the best answer is to acknowledge that there is no answer and move on.

*Hopping off my soapbox to go do some yoga or walk my dog*

Life.. or something like it.......

Now that Spring has sprung... (ish). I was fortunate enough to have a visit from one of my bestest friends VANESSA! She came to Ut for a wedding but she knows she cannot come to my neck of the woods and not visit or else I will revoke her "Samiees' Best Friend" card indefinitely. (That's a big deal there are like only 4 of those cards available!)

So Ness and I took advantage of a BEAUTIFUL April day and went to Thanksgiving Point to check out the Tulip Festival. TP did not disappoint! It was sooo beautiful! We spent most of the afternoon perusing the flowers and plotting the theft of a un-inhabited golf cart so that we didn't have to walk our lazy bums back to the car. Too bad all the carts belonged to elderly people otherwise... we sooo would have taken one.

May was an interesting month... Interesting INDEED!! I came down with a righteous case of bronchitis the first weekend in May. It took over 3 weeks to go away. (By go away I mean "stopped coughing up nasty-ness every 2-5 minutes and I could walk 3 feet without wheezing.)

I spent 12 glorious days with my sisters (4) offspring while she and her hubby where lounging on a cruise ship bound for Alaska and living the high life is Seattle.

My sister asked me to do her this favor... oh over a YEAR ago!!!! and apparently I was delusional at the time so I said yes. Ya... me?! the one that HATES when people touch my stuff and needs at LEAST 2 hours ALONE to decompress from my day is going to spend 12 days with 4 kids...

As the trip approached I realized what I signed myself up for. 4-children plus 3 horses, a dog, a goat, a bird, chickens and ducks. YA... I must have been insane to accept this task. But none the less I accepted my fate and took on these little brats (Not brats I love them like they where my own). Things went pretty well I think. I shocked them with my ability to cook (I cooked 2 out of 12 nights)as well as my insisting they do their chores. Ya what a drag I am huh? But we all survived and my sister and brother in law returned rested and ready to resume their roles.
I gained a HUGE appreciation for parents out there. Especially the single ones. It isn't easy man. Thank goodness my nieces and nephew are totally awesome and well behaved or someone may have been duck taped and locked in a closet.

So after my adventure in babysitting. I treated myself to a matinee movie. I went to the movies all by myself (GASP)! I have never done that before. I know people that do it all the time but this was a first for me. So after getting the car cleaned I went and saw SATC2. While waiting for the movie to start and praying I didn't see anyone I knew in fear they would ask me who I was there with and I would have to admit to being there alone followed by me feeling like a loser, I watched the previews. There was 1 movie that caught my eye. A movie starring Julia Roberts. I have always liked Julia's' movies and based on the preview alone I decided that after my movie was over I was going to buy the book the movie was based on. I am sooo glad I did! Eat, Pray, Love is an amazing book! Really inspiring! The title alone had turned me off to reading it sooner. I thought it was one of those new age, self help, crap books. But no! This lady is as real as they come! She is funny insightful and most of all REAL! So I suggest you pick it up!!!

I have been really busy with clients the last few weeks. There is only 1 word to describe my clients. AWESOME! I seriously do not know how I got sooo lucky to be blessed with these awesome people! They really are more like friends than clients! Friends that pay me to wax and glitter them! Who could ask for more? So if I haven't said it before I will say it again. THANK YOU FOR BEING AWESOME!

Last summer my amazing friend Midge started teaching yoga in Saratoga Springs. Me being the good friend I am started attending her classes! I have done yoga in the past and enjoyed it but for some reason or another I never really stuck with it. Midge has totally changed that! For the last year (off and on thanks to illness and injuries) I have been learning and training with Midge and I love it! I am so calm, relaxed and focused after each session. In the last year I have bought several books on yoga and even made a little space at my house to practice (thanks Mom and Dad for letting me occupy yet another space.) If you live in the area please, please check out the yoga classes at the Avondale academy in Saratoga Springs. Midge teaches on Thursdays and there is another equally awesome instructor on Tuesdays!

Ok this was a REALLY, REALLY long tangent... hope you enjoyed... if not.. to damn bad.

Spring is officially here (has been for awhile now despite the snow) and a lot has been going on. I went to St. George with the always adorable Nikki and Cami and we had an AMAZING time!! There is no better way to re-charge then by spending time with good friends in the sunshine.

On what I think was the ONLY nice saturday in April my awesome photographer friend Amber Shaw took some family pictures for me! My fam is not exactly great at getting together for pictures. The last time we did pictures was in 2003! Before that it was 1984! I have made it a goal to try to get us together more often even if I have to threaten dismemberment!!

Poor Miss Maye had gained A LOT of weight this last winter. We started walking a lot then I noticed she was limping a lot. After a few days the limping didn't stop we went to the dreaded vet. Dayzie was not happy she paced the floor whined and hid behind me when anyone entered the room. The diagnosis was obesiety! (Not a surprise) My baby weighed in at a whopping 53lbs!! So we are once again on a diet and my girl and I walk twice a day!

This last weekend we where lucky enough to have Master Jeff Kim come out to Utah to see how much the Utah AKF rocks!
